Description

The Adult & Continuing Education provides classroom-related instruction in accordance with the USDOL Office of Apprenticeship. The courses present technical instruction for the trade and are intended to complement on-the-job skills. Plumbing is four-year apprenticeship. If an individual want to be an apprentice, they must complete the following apprenticeship components: • Structured On-the-Job Training (8,000 hours/4-years) Apprentices receive hands-on training from an experienced mentor at their place of employment. • Related Technical Instruction (576 hours/minimum of 144 hours per year) Classroom learning designed to complement the trade and on-the- job training. Each year is divided into two 75-hour sessions beginning in September and ending in December, then resumed in January and ends in April. This allows students to earn a minimum of 150 hours of classroom related instruction. This is a virtual course consisting of "live" virtual instruction and assignments. Students are required to have internet access to participate and complete online assignments. Class Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday Instruction consists of safety, practical math, algebra, plumbing fundamentals & water supply systems, estimating, plumbing fixtures, isometric drawings, drains & waste, business law, and code.
