Description

The Adult & Continuing Education provides classroom-related instruction in accordance with the USDOL Office of Apprenticeship. The courses present technical instruction for the trade and are intended to complement on-the-job skills. Electrical is four-year apprenticeship. If an individual wants to be an apprentice, they must complete the following apprenticeship components: • Structured On-the-Job Training (8,000 hours/4-years) Apprentices receive hands-on training from an experienced mentor at their place of employment. • Related Technical Instruction (576 hours/minimum of 144 hours per year) Classroom learning designed to complement the trade and on-the- job training. Each year is divided into two 75-hour sessions beginning in September and ending in December, then resume again in January and ending in April. This allows students to earn a minimum of 150 hours of classroom related instruction. This course is a hybrid of one (1) “in-person” class, and one (1) virtual/online instruction per week. Students are required to have internet access to participate and/or complete online assignments. Class Schedule: Monday (in-person) / Wednesday (online) **The first week of classes are held in-person, then hybrid model starts week of 9/26/2022. If school is closed on a Monday other than the dates listed below, then that class will be a virtual class. Classroom instruction consists of electrical fundamentals & theory, industry math, motors & controls, generators, safety, and the National Electrical Code. Course cost does not include textbooks.
