Start a rewarding career working with animals. Our NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program prepares students for entry-level positions in veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, and other animal care settings. Students will learn the essential skills needed to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians, with a focus on small animal care and clinical techniques. This program is offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person instruction with online coursework. Schedule Mondays: In-person instruction Wednesdays: Online instruction Students must have reliable computer and internet access to participate in the online portions of the course. If students are interested in sitting for the AVA exam, they must complete a 100-hour externship in a veterinary practice to gain hands-on experience. Students are responsible for locating an externship site. Course cost does not include exam fees and textbooks.
